Ultraman Nexus, in his initial form known as Anphans, is a prominent Ultraman appearing in the 2004-2005 series Ultraman Nexus. He isn't a singular being but rather a title passed down to compatible hosts, known as Dunamists.
Anphans represents Nexus's untainted, primitive state. He possesses a silver and black color scheme, lacking the red accents seen in his evolved forms. His fighting style is raw and forceful, relying heavily on brute strength and speed. His primary weapon in this form is the powerful Punch Shoot attack.
Unlike most Ultramen, Nexus's strength depends on the Dunamist's mental and physical condition. When the Dunamist is weakened or burdened by inner turmoil, Nexus's power diminishes. He evolves into stronger forms like Junis when the Dunamist overcomes their personal struggles and embraces courage.
The first Dunamist to transform into Anphans in the series is a mysterious man named Shunichi Maki, an astronaut haunted by a past trauma. Subsequent Dunamists later unlock further evolutions of Ultraman Nexus.
